Energy Out Through Exercise
Why is a walk considered to be so good for losing weight, when a jogging burns twice what walking does in the same time ?
Most people who don’t train or compete actively at a sport, would not be fit enough to run off what they could comfortably walk off.
Furthermore, many people who are unfit, overweight, or carrying injuries may be unable to jog at all, whereas most would be able to walk.
Plus, jogging for unfit or overweight people is not recommended because it can cause impact injuries
For these reasons alone, walking is the option suited to most people.

What is a fit person ?
A fit person has a high aerobic threshold, can engage in an activity where they will have a heart rate of between 130 and 150 and still be able to hold a conversation, and sustain the effort for up to four hours.
Put simply :
A fit athlete jogging briskly and burning 50 Kj per minute for one hour, will burn a total of 3000 Kj.
A semi fit, aged person can walk at a brisk pace burning 25 Kj per minute for two hours and still burn a total of 3000 Kj, exactly what the super fit athlete achieved.
So walking is the general measure that most people can succeed at and is therefore the energy mode recommended.
