Heart Rate Monitors
There are 700 muscles in the body, the most important of which is the heart, and they all arrive at gyms in various states.
Monitors show how fit the heart is and how hard we should challenge them. They allow us to tailor training to the individual’s actual capacity as measured by the heart.
Ageless Health first prepares the heart for the intensity of exercise and then trains people in their most beneficial heart rate range so training time and effort is not wasted on useless exercise.
Without HRMs in generic gyms, trainers advise clients to take a break of a given time between sets. We advise clients to keep going so long as they are training within their range. This is real time training and saves the client sitting around when there is no need.
When HRM’s show us that a person is lifting the same amount of weight in the same time at a lower heart rate we know it is time to raise the intensity by adding weight or repetitions. The clients own heart dictates the training.
Without HRM’s, trainers have to guess as they don’t know. The most important aspect of heart rate monitors is they indicate stresses other than training stresses. They can be health related and Ageless have found that 5% of clients arrive with undiagnosed, potentially catastrophic health conditions. Client’s lives have been saved because they blundered into the only gym with a heart rate monitoring regime.
How many could be saved if monitors were used in generic gyms with trainers understanding how to use them?
HRM’s should be operating in all gyms.
